As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Elizabeth Cozzocrea partners with Baby Botanica and her passion for healthy and successful children, adolescents, adults, and families. Elizabeth believes we all grow by understanding another’s perspective, adapting new skills, and being self-empowered.
By utilizing a strengths-based perspective with skill-building techniques and mindfulness, Elizabeth can help individuals improve challenging relationships, regulate emotions, shift behavior, decrease negative self-talk, and increase focus so that each of us can find more peace within our life. Elizabeth’s professional and personal attributes are one in the same. She enters each day with kindness, honesty, and respect towards herself and those she works with. Elizabeth takes great pride in building the therapeutic alliance with clients through empathy, sincerity, and validation.
After receiving her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Portland State University in Oregon, Elizabeth began her clinical work in a psychiatric center servicing various populations with differing mental health needs. Simultaneously, she joined a clinic practice and provided psychotherapy and skills training to children, adolescents, and adults. Over the last 20 years, Elizabeth has strengthened herself as a social worker through training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Collaborative Problem Solving, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Applied Behavioral Analysis. Throughout her practice, Elizabeth has utilized these therapies, along with complementary modes of treatment when working with individuals, families, and within the group dynamic.
Elizabeth often compares family to an automobile. Each person in the family unit represents one part of a car. Yes, an automobile can “work” if the tire has gone flat or the brakes shake when you step on them; however, it’s not an effective mode of transportation. When each part of the vehicle is operating at full capacity – that is when you can actually get somewhere! Every member of a family is important. Each individual contributes in his/her own way. Unfortunately, when one member is struggling to contribute compassionately and thoughtfully, the entire family dynamic can suffer. Elizabeth takes great pride in her practice by working with the family unit as a whole and/or with it’s individual “parts”.
Elizabeth resides in Pawling, NY with her husband and two children. She enjoys hiking, reading, taking lengthy road trips, and spending time with her family and friends. Elizabeth is thrilled to be joining such an amazing team at Baby Botanica.
